Homeowners are eagerly seeking new ideas for their home makeovers.

According to a recent survey conducted among homeowners, almost 75% of them had recently undertaken a home makeover or had intentions of doing so within the next year. Surprisingly, when presented with the option of a $10,000 home makeover or a personal makeover, 75% of individuals opted for the home renovation.
Sources for Home Makeover Ideas
According to a survey, 64% of homeowners stated that they would seek home renovation ideas and information from a nearby home improvement center such as Lowes or Home Depot. Alternatively, 49% of homeowners mentioned home decorating magazines and home improvement books as a probable source of makeover ideas. According to the survey, 42% of respondents indicated home improvement catalogs are a probable inspiration source, while 40% mentioned home improvement TV shows as an idea source for home renovation.
According to a recent study, approximately 49% of homeowners would rely on friends and family for ideas regarding home renovations, whereas 37% would prefer to consult with an interior designer, contractor or architect. It's surprising that just 31% of homeowners stated they would turn to the internet for home makeover inspiration.
When it comes to home improvement projects, there are two choices available: doing it yourself or enlisting the help of a professional. While taking the DIY route can be rewarding and save you money, it's important to weigh the pros and cons before making a decision.
On one hand, tackling a project yourself allows you to have complete control over the outcome and can be a great learning experience. It also gives you the satisfaction of knowing that you accomplished something on your own. DIY projects are often more budget-friendly as well since you won't have to pay for labor costs.
However, there are also potential downsides to a DIY project. If you lack the necessary skills or tools, the project may end up costing more time and money than originally anticipated. Poorly executed DIY projects can even decrease the value of your home if done incorrectly. Additionally, if the project is large or dangerous, it's best to leave it to the professionals.
If you do choose to hire a professional, you can rest assured that the project will be completed efficiently and correctly. Professionals come equipped with the necessary skills and experience to handle large or complex projects, reducing the risk of damage or injury. They can also offer expert advice and guidance throughout the process, ensuring that you're satisfied with the final result. However, the cost of hiring a professional can be a significant expense and may be out of reach for some homeowners.
Ultimately, the decision between DIY and professional help depends on several factors, including the scope and complexity of the project, your budget, and your personal skill level. It's important to carefully consider all options before making a decision to ensure a successful and enjoyable home improvement project.
The survey also inquired about the individuals responsible for executing home renovation and improvement projects among the homeowners. Out of all the respondents, 47% expressed their willingness to actively participate in the renovation work, while 42% preferred to hire a contractor and delegate the task to them.
11% of the participants were yet to make a decision.
The majority of respondents, accounting for 62%, who had undertaken home makeovers alone or with the assistance of their partner expressed their willingness to embark on another similar project. Out of the respondents, 6% reported that they had arguments with their spouse that were intense like cats and dogs, while 13% stated that they prefer to undertake tasks on their own in the future.
Expenditures for Home Makeover
Inquiries were made to the survey participants regarding their projected expenditure on home renovation or beautification undertakings for the upcoming year. According to the data, it was found that women were anticipating to allocate around $10,000 to enhance their living spaces, whereas men had budgeted an average of $6,200 for their home renovation and improvement undertakings.
Kitchens and bathrooms were identified by both men and women as the top areas of the home requiring a revamp. This was closely followed by master bedrooms, family rooms, home offices, and children's bedrooms.
47% of homeowners revealed that a custom kitchen featuring genuine hardwood cabinets was their ultimate home renovation project when asked about their wishlist for home makeovers. In second place at 39%, was a bathroom made of marble and equipped with a Jacuzzi. Following closely behind were walk-in closets (37%), a high-quality home theater system or high-definition television (36%), natural hardwood floors and paneling (32%), and a fully furnished home office (26%).
